Terms of Service

1. Who provides the service

katana labs (the "Platform") is a service of KATANALABS SpA, a Chilean joint-stock company (sociedad por acciones) incorporated on October 2, 2026 in Chile's Registry of Companies (Law 20,659):

Paid plans are processed by Lemon Squeezy as the merchant of record: it charges your card, issues the receipt and handles your card details. We never see or store them.

2. The service

katana labs is a hands-on training platform for DevOps, SRE, DevSecOps and Platform Engineering. Each lab gives you an isolated, temporary sandbox with a broken system to diagnose and fix from a terminal in your browser. Sandboxes are ephemeral: they are destroyed when you close the lab or when the session time, set by your plan, runs out.

3. Your account

You need an account to use the Platform, and you must be at least 16 years old to create one. If we learn that an account belongs to someone younger, we close it and delete its data. You're responsible for keeping your credentials safe and for what happens under your account. To buy a paid plan you must be of legal age or have your legal guardian's permission. By signing up you accept these Terms and the Privacy Policy; we record when you did, which version you accepted and in which language.

When you sign up we ask for your country of residence, and you can correct it from your profile. It decides which version of the contract applies to you: if you reside in Chile, it's the Spanish version under Chile. Declaring a country doesn't waive any right you have under the law that applies to you.

4. Acceptable use

Sandboxes are yours to break, fix and explore: inside your own lab, anything goes. Everything outside it is off limits. You may not:

Attack, scan, probe or try to gain unauthorized access to any system outside your sandbox: other users' sandboxes, the Platform's own infrastructure (including the lab checker, the terminal service and the cloud account they run on), or third parties on the internet.
Try to break out of your sandbox's isolation, or get around session, resource or daily limits, plan restrictions, or the checks that decide whether a lab is solved other than by solving it.
Repurpose the Platform's compute: mining cryptocurrency, running services, proxies or bots unrelated to the lab, or sending spam.
Store, transmit or process illegal content, malware aimed at third parties, or content that infringes other people's rights.
Open more than one account to get around the Free plan's limits, share your account, or resell or redistribute access without our written permission.
Use automated tools (scrapers, bots, scripts against the API) beyond normal use of the web interface, or put an unreasonable load on the Platform.
Harass, threaten or deceive other people, including our team through support.

Reporting a security flaw

If you find a vulnerability in the Platform, report it to contact@katanalabs.pro. While verifying it, don't go further than needed to show it exists, don't access or change other users' data, don't degrade the service, and give us reasonable time to fix it before making it public. If you act in good faith within these limits, we won't treat it as a breach of this section or suspend your account for it.

What happens if these rules are broken

Depending on how serious and repeated it is, we may warn you, suspend the account for a set time, or close it. We tell you which rule was broken by email, unless urgency or the law prevents it, and you can reply to that email to ask us to review the decision. We keep the records needed as evidence, including to cooperate with the authorities on a possible computer crime (Chilean Law 21,459). The rights the Refund Policy and your local law give you over any period already paid still apply.

5. Plans, prices and payments

Free: no cost and no card, with a smaller catalog and usage limits.
Standard: monthly or yearly subscription, in US dollars (USD).
Business: terms and price under a custom contract.

Current prices, what each plan includes and its limits are on the pricing page and are shown again before you pay. Anything marked "Coming soon" is not included yet.

Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period (month or year) until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from your account; cancellation takes effect at the end of the period already paid, and you keep access until then. If you change plans, the price difference is prorated on your next charge.

If a renewal charge fails, you have 7 days to update your payment method; after that your account goes back to the Free plan. We email you at both points.

6. Right of withdrawal and refunds

You can get a full refund of your subscription within 14 days of purchase, straight from your account. This doesn't limit any right of withdrawal your local law gives you. See the Refund Policy for details.

7. Availability and liability

Labs are educational environments, not production infrastructure: don't keep anything in them you can't afford to lose, since they are wiped when the session ends. We work to keep the Platform continuously available, but there may be interruptions for maintenance or failures.

We are liable for the contracted service under the applicable law. Nothing in these Terms limits the non-waivable consumer rights you have under the law that applies to you. We are not liable for misuse of the Platform or for damages from using the labs outside their educational purpose.

8. Intellectual property

The scenarios, texts, lab images and the Platform's software belong to KATANALABS SpA or its licensors. Your subscription gives you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use them while it is active. Open-source tools included in the labs are governed by their own licenses.

9. Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time from your profile: your labs are closed, your subscription is cancelled and your data is deleted as described in the Privacy Policy. We may suspend or close an account that breaches section 4, notifying you by email unless urgency prevents it.

10. Changes to these Terms

If we change these Terms materially, we will email you in advance and ask you to accept the new version before you keep using the Platform. If you don't accept it, you can cancel your subscription and delete your account. Each version is identified by its date at the top of this page.

11. Governing law and complaints

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Chile, without prejudice to the mandatory consumer protection rules of your country of residence. If something goes wrong, write to us first at contact@katanalabs.pro. Nothing here prevents you from going to the consumer authorities or courts your local law gives you access to.
